Freedom of Information
Last updated on 16/06/2006
Background
Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project (KASP) is committed to implementing the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (2000) and related legislation. This provides a general entitlement to information that the KASP holds to any person subject to exemptions and conditions laid down by law.
Scope
This policy applies to all information that KASP holds regardless of how it was created or received. It applies no matter what media the information is stored in and whether the information may be on paper or held electronically. The Act is fully retrospective.
Dealing with Requests
KASP will offer advice and assistance to anybody who wishes to make a request for information. Requests for information held will be responded to within statutory guidelines, no more than 20 working days and more speedily if possible. Any request in writing will be considered a Freedom of Information request; however we have provided an application form to ensure an efficient and effective response to information requests.
Responsibilities
Staff have responsibilities to ensure that any request for information they receive is dealt with under the Act and in compliance with this policy. They are also responsible for good information handling practice and implementing records management policies and procedures as appropriate to their post.
Complaints Procedure
In the case of a complaint, you can either make an internal complaint using the KASP’s complaints procedures or go directly to the ‘Information Commissioner’, the independent body that oversees the Freedom of Information Act 2000
